Rain, sun, rain and some more sun. A day of testing weather where the Capitalflow Team was out in force at TURAS of St. Michaels House Rathmines, as part of our ESG Volunteer Programme. In giving back to the community, the team got stuck in and worked tirelessly on the large garden area. An important space to young adults, this garden needed maintenance work on raised beds involving painting, weeding, planting and general mucking out. The grounds drive and walkways also got a deep clean, a fresh face lift for the summer months ahead!
St. Michaels House offers services to young people aged between 18-26 with intellectual disabilities and their families around Dublin (170 properties, so lots of opportunity to volunteer), supporting approximately 2,300 individuals and positively impacting thousands more families. Supports include Clinical and Respite, Vocational training, Independent living plus lots more invaluable assistance. A busy training centre with wonderful volunteers and amazing young people really appreciates volunteer days like today and the Capitalflow team thoroughly enjoyed offering their help, working together in a meaningful outdoor space.
A day where any other fair-weathered team could have said “We’ll come back when the weather is nicer”, would have been the easy option, our rain soaked, sweaty, dirty crew stuck it out and achieved what they came to do. Kudos to the clever few who brought a change of clothes when come 5pm a reward get together was well-earned!
